Bodmin Keep Army Museum is open again after over 6 months of enforced closure. They’re welcoming back visitors to The Keep and planning new activities and exhibitions, so if you’re thinking about taking a holiday to Cornwall this summer don’t forget to pay them a visit.
The museum’s theme for exhibitions and activities this year is the Second World War and from July there will be a new exhibition about Bodmin’s ‘Walker Lines’ camp which was used by the US Army in the run-up to D-Day. The museum’s partnership project with the Imperial War Museum has also produced some brilliant new research about Cornwall in the Second World War, in particular the Ellis Collection of World War 2 photographs that
is held in the County Archives. Photographer George Ellis came to Bodmin from London at the outbreak of war and stayed, photographing north and east Cornwall and its people from 1939 and into the 1970s. The collection includes many unique photographs of the Duke of Corn- wall’s Light Infantry (DCLI) and the US Army
when they were both residents in the town. Full details of the museum are on their
website at bodminkeep.org and you can also keep up to date with what’s on by following them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @ bodminkeep.
