Thrapston Primary School.................................................
Learning in so many different ways – Rainbows bring hope
Thrapston Primary School are trying to
keep things as normal as possible for the children. There is work being set regularly via the school website for those who need guidance, and the staff are working from home to prepare lessons and communicate with parents. The school building is being kept open for the minority of children who still need to attend as their parents are key workers. School lunches are still being made for these children and also for any other
TPS children eligible for free school meals who still need one. Office work and pastoral support also continue.
Many children started their time at home decorating their windows with rainbows
as a sign of hope for the future. Having been a warm week there were also plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning. The school community may look different at this time but the family of TPS is still thriving.
“Things have changed over the last couple of weeks and now life’s a bit different. Now school has been closed and it’s unlikely that kids are going to see each other so that’s really tough on them. I feel like the government have done the right thing by putting us in lockdown although many people don’t like the idea.
Overall I think this is a really hard time for many countries and what has to be done has to be done.
It’s nice to be at home with my family but I miss seeing people my own age. I’m into
a lot of clubs and all of them have been cancelled so there are now less activities for me to do, but on the other hand Joe Wicks is doing daily PE sessions to keep kids like me fit.” Bryce,
Year 6.
“While school is closed it’s sad that I can’t see my friends every day in the playground, and all my sports clubs and scouts are cancelled. I’m doing a daily jog to keep myself
fit and practising my cricket bowling in the garden.
The positive side is that I don’t have to get up so early in the morning and I don’t have to wear my uniform.” Gethin, Year 6.
