Street, in the Plaza, on the stage and round in St James Church and churchyard. There is something for everyone. Local dance groups will be performing in the Plaza where the W.I. will be serving delicious cream teas throughout the afternoon. Thrapston Town Band will be performing in the churchyard and tea and cake will be in the church.
The Charter Fair committee works hard throughout the year promoting the fair, gathering attractions, booking stalls and encouraging new participants. Each year the Charter Fair has a different theme which flows through the music, the fancy dress and the shop window competition. Local shop owners are often very creative in the way they decorate their windows for the Charter Fair – look out for lots of very lively and colourful displays this year reflecting the theme of Caribbean. Food and drink too are linked to the theme and this year we are setting a bistro area near Thrapston Library with several food and drink vendors easily accessible for those who wish to sit a while.
The Fun Fair has been a feature of Charter Fair for many years and the Committee is delighted to have received sponsorship and additional funding which means that all the rides will be free of charge. Thank you to all our sponsors who have made this happen.
Take time on Charter Fair Day to visit all the stalls in the High Street, many raising funds for local and national charities. Visit
the Heritage Tent to find out more about the history of the Charter and our fascinating town. All our shops and pubs will be open so there is no excuse not to spend lots of time enjoying the Charter Fair 2019. Wonder what King John would have thought of it?
