James Rutterford Trust
The fund was set up in 1993 in memory of James, a former student of Prince William School and member of the PWS Army Cadets, who was killed in a car accident in January 1992. He ran Disco’s in Oundle for youngsters in the area so they would have their own form of entertainment and these were continued
for music lessons, ski trips, theatre trips to
the West End, Iceland Geography Trip, Harry Potter studio tour, Physics trip to Geneva, Duke of Edinburgh awards and many more. With the extra-curricular grants, the Trust have supported a pupil who was chosen to represent GB in swimming and another in the GB
by his parents and his friends and the profits started up the fund.
The Trust is targeted at families
who need financial support to enable
their children to take part in school
activities. The fund aims to provide
education facilities, equipment in
school to aid study and support out of
hours activities. This is not necessarily
for people receiving benefits, there are many families that are working who find that due to various pressures they are unable to afford for their child to participate in a particular trip
or activity. Recent purchases to enhance the school environment consist of a piano and a picnic bench with the hope of purchasing more in the near future. Grants have been awarded
Archery Team.
The Trustees would like to thank all
of the supporters of the fund who give their time to raise money in memory of James, to ensure students at PWS can be involved in all activities whatever their financial situation.
The fundraiser being held on Saturday 15th March at Barnwell
Village Hall is the only fundraiser organised this year as the Trust relies on donations and collecting tubs in local shops.
