OUNDLE MUSEUM
Volunteers needed
Oundle Museum has
been in existence
since opening in 1994
with an exhibition of
‘living heritage’ in the
Drill Hall. The Museum moved to its present place in The Courthouse in 2000, where we
are fortunate enough to have a space for a permanent exhibition about the history of the town and also a separate room for a specific theme. We have nearly 12,000 entries on our database of items in our collection, from a prehistoric flint to a 1970’s army dress uniform, all collected from Oundle and also surrounding villages. This year our theme continues with ‘Trades and Traders’ showcasing all the different trades that have gone on in the town.
The Museum is run by a dedicated Management Committee and we are looking to expand our number, so if you are interested in local history and would like to help support the Museum there are several ways to get involved whether you live in Oundle or in any of the surrounding villages.
• We are looking for volunteers to join our
committee and help publicise the Museum within the town and on social media.
• We are also looking for volunteers to assist with displays and exhibitions.
• You could also become a steward where
you would work with a colleague when
the Museum is open to meet, greet and
assist visitors. Stewards can volunteer at the Museum as much or as little as they like. Our opening times are split into 3 hour sessions over a weekend and during the school summer holidays, so if you have some spare time at the weekend please get in touch.
• You could become a ‘Friend’ of the museum by making a small or large donation on an annual basis to help support the running of the Museum. You will be invited to special events and the opening evening.
