P&RTC Staff CPD. Members of the 11SR P&RTC staff, both AAPTIs and SIO PTs have gone through the newly implemented DURALS reporting procedure as part of in-house Continued Professional Development (CPD).
11SR maintains a strong working staff of which includes 7 x full time AAPTIs as well as 7 x SIO PTs. Amongst the SIO cohort, there are a handful who are themselves, ex-APTCIs / RAPTCIs (Mr G Booth, Mr M Geddes, Mr C Kelly).
With the implementation of the new Physical Employment Standards (PES) across the Army, the output standard for all Phase 2 soldiers takes the form of the Role Fitness Test Soldier (RFTS). This has led to the large-scale incorporation of specific training to be undertaken within the weekly Physical Training Programme (PTP) across all different trade courses that pass through 11SR.
Regimental Boxing Event. The 11 (RSS) Signal Regiment Boxing event took place on Thu 24 Mar 22, facilitating a competition between Phase 2 Initial Trade Trainees for the first time since 2019. With an initial intake of 114 participants, a gruelling 10-week Boxing programme, resulted in the squad shrinking in size to a final 30. With detailed matchmaking conducting between the Boxing Officer, coaches, and QMSI, 20 boxers were ready to leave it all in the ring over 10 competitive contests.
Representing multiple target audiences, the evening consisted of 2 female bouts, and witnessed 4 QGS representatives go blow for blow in front of the Regimental Messes, VIP’s, and honoured guests. An outstanding female contest between Sigs Homer and Hughes brought the crowd to its feet as they witnessed both boxers deliver standing counts, before Sig Hughes eventually taking the win with a late flurry. The Best Boxer award was presented to Sig Pearce, displaying an innate habit to make his opponent miss

before making him pay with fierce flurries of punches. Most Galant boxer was awarded to Sig Cooke who gave away a huge height advantage to her opponent, but displayed courage, grit, and determination to fight against the physical disadvantage, losing narrowly on points to Sig Edge.
An outstanding evening, the event organisation and standard of Boxing was complimented positively by Comdt DCTT, who thanked all those involved for providing an unbelievable sporting spectacle. The Regiment now looks forward to hosting the Corps Championships later this year in what will be another busy period for the team.
