Crazy, marvellous...
ABSEIL FUNDRAISER
Back in 2012, after a bit of a tricky time, Caroline and Bill Nall’s son Charlie chose to make a surprise appearance five weeks early.
During weeks 30-34 of Caroline’s pregnancy she encountered some health problems and was cared for by the amazing staff on Rowan Ward at Kettering General Hospital. Most mornings meant monitoring on the ward, until on the day of 34 weeks, something was wrong. Caroline remembers walking onto the ward and bursting into tears. A cesarean later and little Charlie arrived at 4lb 10ozs.
While Charlie was cared for in the amazing Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), Caroline
was back on Rowan Ward. It was in the days following Charlie’s birth that she realised how short of essential equipment they were. The one mobile blood pressure machine never stopped being rushed up and down the ward and even small things like oximeters were in short supply. While the staff were truly heroic, they were being asked to work without proper equipment.
“It can’t easily be put into words how superb the level of care was on the Rowan Ward, from the cleaners and porters to the nurses and doctors...”, and this is why she’s asking for your support now.
Caroline promised to help them out whenever she could. So when she saw the Northampton Health Charity asking for people
to abseil 418ft down the Northampton Lift Tower for the NHS, it didn’t take many minutes for her to put her name down. While not a fan of heights, she’d do anything for Charlie and it’s only thanks to KGH that he is the loving, funny, amazing little man that he is today, so here goes... and quite frankly,
she’s petrified!
