The real Bismarke Challenge champions
After months of preparation, the 8 RIFLES endurance team were quietly confident
for the Flagship event of the 2022 season; the 1 Division “BISMARKE CHALLENGE”. The Battalion entered a mixed team and an all-male team into the 4x4 mile relay, aiming to win both events in the Army Reserve category. Stellar feats of endurance from the likes of CSjt Sutherland, Rfn Monk and LCpl Chamberlain mitigated noble but less graceful efforts by more senior members of the squad, resulting in a demolition of the
closest competitor, 2 ROYAL IRISH, in both events. Basking in the warm afterglow of a race well won, elation slowly turned to disbelief.

Our Men’s team was the fastest by a margin of three minutes and our mixed team was
the fastest by almost 4 minutes. But due to
a small clerical error (not reading the admin instruction) 8 RIFLES walked away empty handed. In a move common to many primary
