     Re-Burial of World War One Soldier late 7th Bn KOYLI
 Buglers Mr Kev Fawcett and Major (Retired)David Jarratt
 Buglers Kevin Fawcett and David Jarratt were asked to play the Last Post at Elland Road in front of a crowd of 39,000! No pressure there then!
Majors (Retired) David Jarratt and
David Wroe, and Mr Adrian Waites accompanied by their wives Pauline, Jaqueline and Ann attended the military funeral in Arras of Private Greaves, late of the 7th Bn the KOYLI who was killed
in Action in France in 1917. His remains were discovered last year, and through extensive research and DNA testing by the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre, Private Greaves was identified. His Grandson was also able to attend the funeral. The Bearer Party was provided by 5 RIFLES. Whilst in the area the group visited the grave and resting place of Major WH Charlesworth, late of the 7th Bn KOYLI who was killed in action at Delville Wood in 1916. He is the Great Uncle of Major Joe Charlesworth of the KOYLI and a member of the Retired Officers Association.

at Leeds United’s Remembrance football match at Elland Road in front of a crowd of 39,000! Their performance was first class, receiving a rapturous applause from the crowd. No pressure there then!

  RETIREMENT AND CERTIFICATES
OF APPRECIATION
During the lunch at York Racecourse, following the Regimental Memorial Service in York Minister, Colonel Stephen Hopper
TD VR (RIFLES Deputy Colonel North and Midlands), presented Association Secretary Colin Cranswick and Mrs Maxine Jordan (The Rifles Regional office admin stalwart, upon her retirement after 14 years distinguished service) with an Association Certificate
of Appreciation, signed by Brigadier Mark Wilson MBE (Association President).
In August at the lunch following the Minden Day wreath laying service Vice Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Mr John Holt presented Mr Kev Fawcett with a Certificate of Appreciation for his unstinting work with the Minden House Buglers.

 MINDEN DAY CELEBRATIONS

 The 1st August is Minden Day for the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI); and at the annual wreath laying service at the KOYLI memorial in Doncaster’s Elm Field Park, the sound of bugles reverberated.
The wreath laying service and buffet lunch that followed was attended by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Mr John Holt, Doncaster’s Mayor elect, along with Ros Jones the Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Mark Houlbrook, and the Commanding Officer 8 RIFLES, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Laverick, along with some of his Riflemen.
