Really?
Gymnasium
Over the past 12 months QDG have been
fiercely put through their paces, ensuring
that physical and mental fitness is at
the forefront of their PT delivery focus.
The Regiment’s PT culture has contin-
ually grown from the newly developed
PT strategy, increasing greater knowl-
edge based around human performance
optimisation, and fitness ownership
becoming more prevalent as ever. This
has been noticeably demonstrated by
the increasing number of QDG members
successfully passing their Regiment’s
very own ‘Fit to Fight’ fitness standard.
QDG’s Fit to Fight fitness assessment,
is an opportunity for members of the
Regiment to prove themselves during
routine fitness tests. When fit to fight
standards are achieved, members of
QDG are awarded the fit to fight t-shirt
to wear during PT sessions. This initi-
ative supports and demonstrates the
superior PT culture of the Regiment,
wishing to create higher fitness stand-
ards than the ones set by the Army and
when achieved, recognise their soldiers’
accomplishments.
Another PT initiative that has been
very well received by the Regiment,
has been the issue of individual Heart
Rate Monitors (HRM). With incredibly
generous and vital funding provided by
QDG’s trustees, 50% of the Regiment
are now able to visually track their
Circuit training
“Pacifically!”
heart rates during PT. Monitor screens
around the main gymnasium are now
able to display an individual’s heart rate,
allowing healthy competition amongst
members and providing opportunity
for the Gym Staff to see who might just
need to work that little bit harder. Fun
