and varied operations and deployments
we undertook, I must pay tribute to the
extraordinary dedication displayed by
our officers and soldiers. Their commit-
ment to duty, exemplified during our
deployments overseas, stood as a testa-
ment to their character and training.
They operated with high levels of profes-
sionalism, unwavering resolve, and an
indomitable spirit (especially in sub-zero
temperatures!) that made me proud
to serve alongside them – even from
afar! So, yes, some encounters brought
challenges, yet the resilience shown in
adversity was a source of inspiration for
me as their Padre.
The year has not been without its trials,
and I faced some myself, but through all
of these I am constantly reminded of
our strength as a regiment. The support
network we’ve cultivated became a
sanctuary for many, allowing us to lean
on one another during difficult moments.
In my role, it was humbling to be
entrusted with the spiritual care of our
troops, to listen, to counsel, and to stand
in prayerful solidarity amidst military life
– the Remembrance Service this year felt
particularly poignant, as my last with the
regiment.
In early November I was delighted
to baptise Alexander, the son and first
child of the RMO Maj Pedley and Seb,
Interflex
1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards her husband. Any undertaking with our
families is always a joy but baptising our
children is a real privilege.
As I prepare to leave the regiment in
2025, I reflect on the blessing it has been
to witness the remarkable journey of the
1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Each
soldier, each officer, has left an indelible
mark on my heart. I am grateful for every
moment spent together, every lesson
learned, and every memory forged in
laughter and yes, sometimes tears.
As we move forward, as I move on, my
prayers will always be with you...
“Lord, bless our officers and soldiers
of the 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards
as they carry forward the banner of our
regiment. May they continue to uphold
the values of courage, integrity, and unity.
Guide them in their paths, grant them
strength in their duties, and comfort them
in their times of need. May they feel Your
presence always, and know the love and
support of those around them.” Amen
Thank you so much for such a
wonderful time, I will never forget my
time with QDG.
And I could not possibly leave you
without one final blessing from me:
“May the road rise to meet you, may
the wind be always at your back. May
the sun shine warm upon your face. The
rains fall softly upon you. And until we

meet again, may God hold you in the
palm of his hand and the blessing of
God Almighty, the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit be upon you this day and
remain with you always” Amen
