ENDEX was called with a sigh of relief across the Sqn, and the G4 war began. After a brief period in camp, with some time to visit the local towns, A Sqn grate- fully boarded the coaches and made the long journey back to the UK.
Whilst the only real winners from Ex SJ were the vending machines, A Sqn came on leaps and bounds during this exercise, with the assistance of the American OC-Ts and OMs from QDG and Scots DG. Special mention must go out to Capt Fulloway, never a man to be caught short without his NVD or map.
I will leave you with the thought-pro- voking words of Lt Will Asquith, who after 9 days on exercise having not seen a single enemy was overheard to say ‘I now understand why there are so many war poets.’
