Whilst Cara was away in London, her mum, Kay, found it strange not to have her sharing the sofa this evening. Pete sat opposite, thumbing through his newspaper and occasionally raising his head to glance at the TV news.
‘Fancy a cuppa, Pete?’ He nodded and returned to his paper. Kay nipped upstairs with the laundry and then hung up two of Cara’s jackets in her wardrobe. She sat on the bed and glanced out of the window. Had Cara been at home they might have gone for a walk through the park; it was a lovely evening. As she stood up, a figure strolled past their house and she had to do a double take. It was
