My cousin has a bad habit of lip-reading, so be warned, and she listens in to her parents’ landline telephone conversations. My grandma told me she’s done it since she was little. What are you doing on Saturday? Do you fancy looking for this boy?’
‘Why not? We can feast at the Buffet Bar. If we get a table by the window, we’ll have a good view of the town centre. And don’t forget! ‘You must order another prescription, Miss Maitland. I’m fed up seeing the same colour,’ giggled Olivia, mimicking Miss Kilroy’s squeaky voice.
When the bell rang for lunch break, Olivia and Cara raced out of the classroom to find Elise. Cara walked up behind her and grabbed her sleeve. ‘You don’t mind if Olivia listens, do you?’
Elise shook her head. ‘What do you want to know?’
‘Whatever you tell us, it stays with us,’ assured Cara. ‘How did the boy threaten you and why?’
