CENTENARY
The Field of Remembrance
LCpl Pun Rana
To mark Remembrance Day, on 10/11/2022 I represented the Dental Corps in the 94th Field of Remembrance in Westminster Abbey. It was a great honour to get this opportunity second time in a row, to remember those fallen soldiers who gave their greatest sacrifice.
On the crisp, grey autumn morning the Chief Dental Officer, Col Davies, Lt Col Porter, Sgt Gurung and myself made our
way to Westminster Abbey. We met with fellow RADC personnel and veterans. More than 1,000 people were gathered
in the grounds for the short ceremony. The Queen Consort commemorated the ceremony by laying a cross in memory of those who have lost their lives in Service. Afterwards, she spoke with soldiers and veterans. I was fortunate to see her up close while she was petting a service dog,
which was right next me in a line up. Later that afternoon we had lunch with
all RADC personnel and veterans who attended the event, in one of our favourite Nepalese restaurants. Who doesn’t love some momos? The food was amazing, and everybody really enjoyed it. What a great way to end the day.
