Happy New Year!
Towards the end of January there will be some people who have developed unaccustomed joint strains or unfamiliar aches and pains, and these can often be traced back to taking up new exercise routines at the start of new year.
Many people will make a New Year’s resolution, and unsurprisingly, lots of these will be health related. Some people want to shift
a few pounds gained over the winter, whilst others want to get fit or learn a new skill. If you have committed to getting fitter or are taking up a new sport and want to avoid injuries,
set yourself some realistic goals. Try and pick activities that you enjoy. That way you are far more likely to maintain your efforts.
Start at a sensible level and gradually build up the level of intensity, especially if you are new to an activity. Also, consider some cross training, as varying your activities will reduce your chance of repetitive strains. Consider including some stretching or light resistance work into your routine.
