IT Amnesty Returns!
   It is estimated that the
average UK home has around
25 electronic devices, around
20% of which are unused.
Many of those redundant
items could be refurbished and brought
back into use, or, if recycled correctly, can be dismantled to allow the recovery of the precious metals contained within them; a process which is much more energy efficient than if they are mined from their ores/raw states.
However, as we are increasingly reliant on our phones and computers to conduct many of our everyday
tasks, our IT items can carry so much information about us that we are often hesitant to let them go – fearful that we haven’t erased all traces of our use and wary of the risk posed by any data left on them getting into the wrong hands.

Oundle Waste Less is again teaming up with Peterborough based E-Waste Recycle and Oundle Town Council to run the town’s third IT Amnesty. Unused mobile phones, laptops, tablets, cables, desktop computers, Wi-Fi routers, modems and gaming consoles can be brought to The Hub, Fletton House, Glapthorn Road on 18th January, 2-4pm.
From there, they will be taken to E-Waste recycles premises to be data-wiped, before being
