Joseph Nall has lived and breathed cars since he was little, so it was inevitable that one day he would open his own garage. Today, Oundle MOT and Service Centre employs six people and is going from strength to strength.
When was Oundle Service Centre established? I started the garage in 2019 and became very busy almost instantly, so I soon had to employ other mechanics. We outgrew our premises on Eastwood Road and moved to Herne House in August 2022. The extra space meant that we could install an MOT bay. We became Oundle MOT & Service Centre Ltd in February 2023.
What made you choose Oundle? I grew up in Barnwell, went to school at Prince William and up until my early 20’s I worked for my dad at his workshop in Ashton, mending cars. A few years later, I started my own garage there. It was great to catch up with so many returning customers.
Plans to expand further? Yes, we are looking to put in more ramps and take on more staff to reduce our wait times.
Any colleagues or do you go it alone? There are six of us in total. Mark and Daisy are in the office speaking to customers and ordering parts. Chris, our workshop manager liaising with the office and undertaking repairs, Stuart repairing and servicing vehicles and finally we have Ian who is our MOT tester. I move between jobs helping out where needed and enjoy spending time chatting with customers.
Highlight of your day? Lunchtime! Thursdays are our favourite when Feast is at the market – Leigh does a fantastic burger! Through the week we love a baguette from Trendalls and then chips on a Friday from the Blue Marlin.
Describe your business in five words...
Friendly, approachable, fast-paced, cheerful, fantastic (lol).
