Jumping for joy (or maybe not!) – Sadie & Lisa (the self- proclaimed ‘daft birds’ in the front office at the Primary School)
Parachute jump completed!
Well, we did it! We are both still in
shock. The day was a very long one. Due to the weather we had to wait 6 hours before we could go up in the smallest plane EVER crammed in like sardines. We travelled 10,000 feet above the clouds (which is 3 miles up my instructor told me with glee!). I was third in the queue to be hurled out. We shuffled to the door of the plane and I was completely deafened by the noise. Quick head tilt to the
left, arms crossed in front
of you and woosh......
Lisa said I was sucked
out of the plane like dust
up a hoover pipe! We then
fell at 240 miles an hour (with
our instructors urging us to
smile?!?! ) and were in freefall for
THE longest 30 seconds of our lives before the shoots were pulled and we shot back up in the air. THAT’S when the nausea took over. OMG!!!!! Horrendous!!!!! Every swoop to the left or right had us feeling we could vomit at any moment! Ha! Our descent took about 4 minutes and had we not felt so ill, I’m sure it would have been wonderful. Lisa’s landing was perfect whereas mine was comical with me being dragged along the floor and face planting the grass before being buried under my parachute! ‘You OK under there?’ - my instructor picking up
a corner of the ‘chute to see me still face
down with my thumb in the air! A lot of people have
commented on our Facebook photos and the look of pain on our
faces. This was us consciously trying not to vomit and faint! My instructor
seemed genuinely surprised when he asked me if...
a. I’d enjoyed it and
b. would I be doing it again?
My very quick answer was No and NO! We can both honestly say that it was
THE most horrendous experience but we raised a lot of money for the wonderful CRY Charity and raised awareness too. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support and kind words. We really do appreciate it and if we gave you a giggle along the way then that’s even better. The total raised from the parachute jump so far is £2210.52!
