The first was the finale of the inter-platoon competition in the form of a swimming gala in Tidworth. The second was asking the CSM if there was anything I ought to be made aware of the morning after our ‘welcome home’ Company social...and, while watching the WhatsApp screen say ‘typing’ for around 10mins, thinking to myself that the answer was unlikely to be ‘no’.
The rush to Christmas is now upon us and the Company continues to excel.
Lt Fossey and Sgt Carroll led us to victory in the Battalion patrols competition in October, Sgt Groom is busy teaching gunnery to the next generation of our Warrior crews and Cpl Jarram continues delivering vital signals courses. I sincerely hope that the men enjoy what is a thoroughly well-deserved leave when Christmas does eventually come.
While you will hear from all of my platoon commanders next, I would particularly like to thank Lt Fossey and Lt Arnold as they move on to become OC Anti-Tanks and 2IC C Company and to wish them well. Despite the pressures, both CSgt Crawford and CSgt Poolton have deftly handled the strains of managing equipment across continents. I am therefore thrilled to say that CSgt Poolton will leave us on promotion to WO2, and that he is to be replaced by our own Sgt Fellows as he in turn promotes
to CSgt. Meanwhile Sgt Groom is off to become the CQMS(T) at C Coy and we
all wish Sgt Carroll all the very best as he attends the RMAS selection cadre. All that said, the Company’s true strength is in its JNCOs and I have been delighted to see them flourish with Cpl Angus, Cpl Doyle, Cpl Foster, Cpl Whitaker, LCpl Bray, LCpl Charlesworth, LCpl Jarram, LCpl McKeown, LCpl Shepherd, LCpl Sibanyoni and LCpl Williams all promoting this year.
I will now leave it to my platoon commanders to tell you even more about the excellent year the Company has had.
