ALDP MT Estonia
moto of ‘With Resolution and Fidelity’. Once all the major exercises were completed,
the Detachment’s focus switched to the delivery and administration of the Rest and Recuperation (R&R) package alongside other routine tasks to maintain the BG readiness state.
As a mixed Detachment made up from other units, the team came together and worked as one team towards one goal on Op CABRIT 8 and ensured that fostering the SPS comradeship was high on the agenda. The Detachment celebrated a few birthdays whilst away from home, utilising
Pte (now LCpl) Sushant Magar’s skills
to design birthday cards and Cpl Kirsty Maughan of 3 RHA’s organisational skills to acquire refreshments and much needed cake from the cookhouse for all to share.
Not all work and no play, the team were able to get a break and take part in some Adventure Training (AT) in Nelijärve Holiday Centre, participating in mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking. For some this was their first experience of AT and pushed them out of their comfort zones, but always with a smile on their face (albeit alongside some squealing)!
Birthday Celebrations
During the deployment Private Sushant Magar found time to push his ‘Soldier First’ experience even further and completed his Army Leadership Development Programme course alongside his infantry peers to qualify him for promotion, and Pte Chloe O’neill received her Commanding Officer’s Commendation for her efforts on the administration of the R&R plot.
Overall Op CABRIT 8 proved to be
a productive and fun tour with a steep learning curve for many but allowing the whole team to progress in their knowledge of all aspects of J1.
