RAP the opportunity to do what we’re trained for and provide the best medical care that we can to soldiers when they need us. COVID continued to dominate the latter parts of the year with LCpls Carr and Flanagan deployed on MACA taskings to support the very busy NHS in hospitals in Northern Ireland and Scotland, getting hands-on experience helping to care for some very sick patients at a challenging time in a stretched system.
Meanwhile business as usual continued at Weeton, with support to company training exercises, force health protection, and medical training. For both LCpl Brown and Cpl Titcombe, a significant part of
the year has been spent on attachment to other units for deployments. LCpl Brown
is currently deployed on Op TOSCA – a peacekeeping mission in Cyprus – with 1 RIFLES, and Cpl Titcombe has recently returned from Op CORDED – a counter poaching mission in Zambia – with 1 R IRISH. Amongst all this we’ve still managed to fit in some fun: LCpl Carr took part

2021 has been a busy and memorable year for the RAP! Remembering back to the beginning of the year we were in the peak of the second wave of COVID, and before widespread vaccination had been rolled out. Amidst this the RAP did their utmost to support the battalion deployment to Kenya, including setting up a temporary pre-travel COVID testing facility at Weeton Barracks. COVID kept the RAP busy whilst deployed in Kenya too, managing an outbreak of the virus, on top of the busy business as usual sick parades and emergencies in a force deployed to a hot and austere environment. Kenya was a challenge but provided the
train as a team, including a fascinating day learning about venomous snakebites at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine – with some closeup experiences with some of the world’s deadliest snakes! Looking ahead to 2022, preparations began for a new year and a new deployment to Kenya with nearly 1000 vaccines administered and over 200 antimalarial prescriptions prepared!
