Catering Department

Over the last 12 months the Catering Department has been used to its full capacity supporting the Regiment,
Brigade, and Division with various commitments. Having a well-established team has benefited the innerworkings of our department and capability.
The Department has been the lead
for a Battle Group Deployment to Kenya during a global pandemic, and while deployed, elements of the department
took part in battle group maintenance
days in challenging conditions. During
the deployment we took part in AT which helped develop team cohesion. The Catering Department has also supported the regiment on multiple functions, including Christmas Balls and numerous Brigade and Division VVIP functions.
In May, 2 members of the Catering Department deployed to Gibraltar, in support of a Royal Lancer’s exercise, with both receiving excellent reports. Members of the Department have also supported exercises in the selection process for the Special
forces. With both exercises taking part in challenging and in arduous conditions, the team continued to show its resourcefulness and determination to deliver. Sgt Higgs planned and executed a CAST exercise, which involved leading numerous chefs for different regiments, while Sgt Black planned and deployed to Somalia for the first Military deployment in the region for catering
Supporting yet another Event
manpower, for a short but rewarding period. In early November the Catering Department was involved with a Unit Health Fair, which saw 200 soldiers taking part in live cookery lessons at different stands. We conducted
a speech and demonstrated healthy eating dishes.
Although it has been a busy year
covering deployments and trawls as well
as commitments at the home base, it
has proved to be an invaluable year in the development of our junior caterers. The experience they have gained will only benefit them in the future when they are working in diverse and sometimes challenging locations.
As we look forward, we are ready as always, to be prepared to face the challenges that come our way.
