FOSTER CARE
Oundle Rotary Club
As I write, we are fast approaching the end of meteorological winter... which typically heralds the start of spring. The sight of snowdrops and daffodils starts a new year of activity for all, including those of us who are members of Oundle Rotary. We have already been busy making plans for the year ahead and have had the opportunity to present our chosen charities with a donation raised from our main Christmas fundraising activities.
We received a heartfelt thank you from Headway East Northants for our contribution to their very worthy work and from Oundle Town Football Club who will be sporting a Rotary logo in the coming months, to reflect their thanks for the funds we gave toward their inclusive approach to the sport in the town. We were also pleased to present William Roberts with a cheque to support his recent call up to Team GB to take part in the World Swimming Championships to be held in Portugal.
One of the best things about Rotary is
that it draws on the skills and experience of everybody to bring a project together with a good helping of laughter along the way. We are a happy band, but we are small in number,
and we could do with some help to be able to continue to undertake our charitable work in and around Oundle. We appreciate that making a commitment to meet in the evening twice a month may not work for everybody, but there are other ways you can support us. You could
be an Associate Member. As an associate you would make a £25 donation to Rotary which would go towards our own charity coffers. This would mean that you could help us out at events should you wish to do so, and we would love
to have you come along. It would also mean
that popular activities such as Santa’s Sleigh,
can continue to bring festive fun to Oundle’s children and those that live in the villages nearby. Santa’s Sleigh is an important part of Oundle at Christmas but maintaining the sleigh and committing to two weeks of being ‘out on the road’ in the evening takes a lot of time in the planning and money to keep the sleigh looking spick and span.
