In September we attended the Bosham
Classic Boat Regatta, a gathering of dinghies from yesteryear with hardly any plastic fantastic except for the odd scow. Four Axes attended including fellow RSYC member Chris Brown.As usual,we tookWalkabout
down as mother ship then trailered the boats, it was too windy to tow by sea. Once again Bosham SC went all out to put on a brilliant programme of racing and excellent socials. With much improved weekend weather,
the Axes were grouped for racing with the International Twelves, a boat designed in 1906 for the early Olympics.A couple of these had turned up from Holland where the class remains strong.The International Twelves also attend the Mediterranean classic boat regattas including Monaco. Racing in our fleet was close but Swallow managed another overall win with my brother’s Axe,Whimbrel taking second.
All in all, another successful classic dinghy season and some fabulous sailing on the beautiful Beaulieu river.
