gave a short talk about his involvement in their success.
And lastly, before the workshop sessions, Jean Dowden from Dalbeattie spoke

remove all of the old bricks. Delegates then chose from four workshop sessions: Land and Funding, Horticulture Skills Deficit, Organisations and Conflicts.
The SAGS AGM was held after the conclusion of the Conference that included another question and answer session.
Since the SAGS AGM, committee members, Jenny Mollison, Judy Wilkinson, and Judy’s daughter Rona have produced a wonderful wee book entitled “Raising Spirits” that is all about allotments, well-being and community. The book sees allotments as the unsung story of our times; hidden places for food, friendship and freedom from conformity of everyday life – a must for anyone’s Christmas present! It is part of a short series that stimulate and communicate new thinking and ways of living as featured on www.postcardsfromscotland.co.uk.
Northern Region Notes
We have been very busy updating our records of contact details from all our associations and members. Email is our preferred method of keeping in touch because it is cheap and easy to send to everyone. If you haven’t heard from me in the past three months please send me an email with your contact details. We are keen to keep in touch with both associations and all our other members.
The secretary’s email is northernregionallotments@gmail.com.
We had to change the published date of our autumn meeting; it will now be held on Saturday 1st November at 2pm in the usual venue (Belmont Working Men’s Club). This venue is just outside Durham but if you need directions, please email me and I will be happy
to help. We are delighted to welcome Karen Kenny, our President, to this meeting. She will be pleased to meet you there, address the meeting and to answer any questions.
The New Year meeting will be held on 24th January, same time, same place. John Doherty
