The Regimental Journal of The King’s Royal Hussars
Member of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Captain (now Major) Mark Black.
In his 2 years as Quarter Master Technical of the King’s Royal Hussars, Captain Black streamlined the equipment care processes and his innovative practices were subse- quently adopted by the 57 units in 3(UK)
Division. His relentless focus on improving the management of the Army’s largest equipment inventory increased the Division’s operational outputs and enabled strategic objectives to be met on a NATO deployment in Estonia, Op CABRIT 4.
Colonel Reehal, the Divisional Deputy Chief of Staff, wrote of him: “His uncompromising diligence, industry and management of the colossal operational portfolio at-reach, the remit normally of a seasoned Maj, has been exceptional. If that were not enough, he has made his mark in this Division with his thirst and con- tagious demand for innovation. His standardisation of his Unit Equipment Care Directive (UECD) and initiative in calibrat- ing its use for trial into a standard UECD, for the 57 units of the Division, was the best example I have seen of bottom up better- ment, efficiency and betterment in my two years as DCOS.”
Chief of the General Staff ’s Commendation.
Major Mark Lambert.
Maj Lambert is commended for his out- standing work as the Brigade Ops Major for 104 Log Bde for the past 2 years. Despite a limited logistics background, he has planned and executed an eye watering num-
ber of operational logistic demands both in the UK and overseas, made all the more complex due to the constraints of the COVID pandemic worldwide. He has delivered a masterclass in profes- sionalism and meticulous planning and thoroughly deserves the recognition he now receives.
General Officer Commanding 3rd (UK) Division’s Commendation.
SSgt St Jean.
Staff Sergeant St Jean (RLC) was employed as the Unit Catering Manager (UCM) for the King’s Royal Hussars during an intensive period of UK Ops. On 13 Jan 21 SSgt St Jean
deployed at short notice on OP ROSE to support the Regiment who were tasked with haulier COVID testing over two sites in Kent. SSgt St Jean was required to plan and execute the feed- ing of circa 140 Personnel from two camps, at MOD Manston and St Martins Plain, while testing was conducted in 24hr con- tinuous shift patterns. The challenge was compounded by limited resources, and food availability which sat outside of policy. SSgt Jean had within days completely changed, not only the menu but the functioning of his kitchen staff (civilian and military) into a more productive working force with the output being exceptional.
12th Armoured Brigade Combat Team Commendation.
WO2 Steve Pople.
Through 2020 and to Summer 2021 WO2 Pople was employed as the Training Officer for The King’s Royal Hussars. The most complex period for training in recent mem- ory as COVID disrupted course deliver and
generated complex additional requirements in addition to a back- log of conventional courses. This placed a considerable demand on the training wing in the delivery of Distributed Training (DT), the integration of the Army Leadership Development Program (ALDP) and the HM Forces Public Services NVQ. All of which would have not been possible without WO2 Pople’s tenacity, experience and work ethic.
It is often the ambition of every Training Officer to leave their mark, however, in this instance WO2 Pople has done exactly that. Therefore, by virtue of his, ever-expanding, highly commendable legacy he is unequivocally recommended for wider recognition – without question a force multiplier and a truly impressive soldier, instructor and leader.
12th Armoured Brigade Combat Team Commendation.
SSgt Harris.
Staff Sergeant Harris has been employed as the Regimental Signals Warrant Officer within Headquarter Squadron for the King’s Royal Hussars since September 2019. Harris has thrived in a demanding and technical
role. His enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge within the CIS realm has enabled the Regiment to strive for communications excellence. Harris has gone out of his way to benefit the wider Brigade as well as the KRH. His thirst for knowledge means that he is consistently looking for areas to improve, spending time coming up with fresh and innovative ideas to enable the KRH BG to compete and survive on the modern battlefield.
