Cpl Portlock.
Since February 2020 Cpl Portlock has been employed as the sole Class One Armourer within the King’s Royal Hussars (KRH). He has been heavily involved in all KRH activ- ity and beyond.
Cpl Portlock has provided intimate Equipment Support (ES) to B Squadron, deploying on Castlemartin Ranges, where he ensured the successful completion of the annual firing camp maintaining and repairing the twelve CR2s. As part of Op IRON PHOENIX (Op IP) he has supported the entirety of the Regiment, taking ownership of the Armourer’s Shop and completing C351s for over 600 Rifles and Carbines, 110 Support weapons, 187 MODACs and all the supporting ancillaries. Whilst the majority of the Regiment remained in lockdown, Cpl Portlock was responsible for the inspection and subsequent work on eight CR2 for hando- ver to the QRH. Also, as part of Op IP, JAMES data has been used to great effect within PowerBI to display availability, he single- handedly completed a full data cleanse ensuring that KRH has some of the best data accuracy in the Division. On the KRH’s return from lockdown he has continued to maintain all small arms as well as the remaining fleet, which includes 24 CR2, 10 CVR(T), 8 Bulldogs and 10 Panthers.
Cpl Portlock’s professional effectiveness is exemplary; he is an ambassador for his trade.

Cpl Ale.
Cpl Ale is employed as the Production Supervisor of the combined Officers’ Mess at Aliwal Barracks. Over the last 12 Months Cpl Ale has deployed on numerous exercises and has been the ‘go to’ chef for the department.
The sheer volume of Ale’s commitments and deployments throughout these unprecedented times have been hugely com- mendable. Notably: Ex IRON CRANE in Germany, Op ROSE in Kent and recently Ex WARFIGHTER in the US. Additionally, he has been integral to smaller events within Brigade and Division and whilst these events are arguably not as note-wor- thy he has consistently delivered optimum standards of catering irrelevant of an event’s prestige. Also, Ale has invested an inordi- nate amount of his personal time to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity. His selfless commitment throughout his endeav- ours has come within many plaudits as he is often recognised by senior officers as being the first name on the team sheet for high profile catering events.
Corporal Ale has rightly been recognised as a superb caterer and an invaluable asset to the King’s Royal Hussars.
