New Priest at St Paul’s, Thrapston.
Some might say the Catholic Church ‘moves in mysterious ways’! Having been with us for barely a year, our new parish priest, Father Pius Amoako is moving on to one of the large parishes in Slough at the southern end of our RC Northampton Diocese.
We were sad to hear that his last Mass with us was on Easter Sunday so he will have moved by the time this is published.
The new priest appointed to our joint Thrapston, Raunds and Oundle parishes is Father Benedetto D’Autilia who has come from a parish in High Wycombe and we welcome him warmly to Thrapston where he will be living.
A word of explanation for those who may be wondering about this change:
In the Catholic Church, a priest is ordained into a particular Diocese and is committed
to serving in whichever parish he is sent by
the Diocesan Bishop who is responsible for
the parishes overall. Bishop David Oakley has himself only been with us in Northampton since just before lockdown. Clearly, he has is now arranging his clergy to best meet the needs of the Diocese..
Footnote: In the Anglican Church, a priest is more ‘freelance’ one might say and can apply directly to serve in a parish in any Diocese across the Anglican Communion.

We begin this new month of May without a full-time minister as Mat and family begin
their new life in Brackley, South Northants. Our prayers at this time are especially with all those whose lives are being turned upside down by the conflict in Ukraine. TBC are currently supporting a children’s ministry over there where Russian attacks have and continue to
tear people’s homes and families apart, with many seeking refuge. We also pray for God’s continuing wisdom and provision for the church as we seek to faithfully teach and witness to ours community.
This month we begin preaching through Jesus’ parables. The services will have the following themes and preachers.
