SUPPORT
ANGEL
Helping with bereavement
When respected Kettering Independent Funeral Director, Averil Phillips and Family opened a second office in Oundle three years ago, the aim was to provide Oundle with a fully independent funeral service.
The service is impressive. Wendy and the team pride themselves on ensuring that every tiny detail is taken into account. Nothing is left to chance, everything is checked and double- checked with the family. From big things
right down to tiny details, Wendy works with families, discussing the sort of funeral that suits their needs, helping with all the decisions that need to be made.
Averil Phillips’ service doesn’t finish with
the funeral. Every month, Wendy hosts a Bereavement Support Group, led by counsellor Jane Humphries, where people are welcome to come to talk about the person they have lost, about how they are feeling, how they’re dealing with their grief. The group extends beyond those who have had a funeral service with Averil Phillips to anyone who has been bereaved and
is in need of counselling. Through the group new friendships have been forged and the spirit of mutual support is strong, as these comments attest:
“The group is made up of people whose bereavement has lasted years and those for whom it is all too recent. Older ‘bereavers’ help those newer to this phase in life. It seems to work very well.”
“Being now on my own, there were changes in life I had to deal with. Hearing about other people’s experience of grief helps to put your own in perspective.”
“I still find attendance is beneficial to me; I leave each meeting buoyed up for the weeks ahead.”
If you are interested in attending and require any further information, please pop into the office or call Wendy on 01832 272251.
