How strange it was that a few months later Jackie (Theatre Nurse) contacted me asking if I would sit in with her when Mr Varma did her reconstruction! I really wanted to but sadly, I had something in the diary that I just couldn’t get out of, but I made sure I went to see her after her op. (which had gone well) Jackie proudly sitting up, showing me her new breast.
The next time I met up with Jen, even though we had chatted a lot on the phone, was in the Outpatient Department when she had her
6 week post op. follow up with Mr Varma where they talked about her having a new nipple! Like with me, when Jen lifted her top, it was another “WOW” from him. Her new breast looked amazing and there were no complications.
Jen’s son had driven her to Leicester and announced he wanted to raise funds for us. He was so proud of his Mum – as we all were – and went on to run the Coastal Run for us. How lovely it was too that Jen joined us for our 4th Breasts Reunited Evening!
Now... this has been an extremely long chapter for which I make no apologies. But now a test! What was the title of this chapter?

Well... months after my reconstruction I was at an event where everyone was standing about. There was a lot of laughter. Suddenly a man came up to me and told me he couldn’t help but notice that when I laughed, my boob went up and down! What? He repeated what he had said.
I was very much taken aback but so intrigued, for he was really laughing (and by now looking a little sheepish). I asked him, “Which one?” My left one – my reconstructed one! I went into the Ladies not wishing to draw any more attention to myself – or him. In front of a mirror I laughed. Nothing. I laughed again – thankful that the room was empty – nothing! So, I ‘told myself to move my boob’ and hey ho! My brain engaged with it and I was able to make my boob go up and
