The four of us are very different, we have different personalities, and we have all led our lives in different ways and travelled different paths. With a stable upbringing, and not wanting for anything due to the hard work of our parents, I do wonder had Mum and Dad not been so busy, whether our family relationships would have been different. What I want to say here is how grateful I was to have had Cas, Andrew and Jimmy and their respective partners around me when I was diagnosed, and in later years, when I had to leave teaching and start a new life. They were all, and continue to be, so very supportive. We have never lived in each other’s pockets; we have always had that kind of respect and understanding. There have been times when we may not have seen or spoken to each other for a few weeks, even months! However, even now, when we do meet and chat, it’s as if we had only seen each other yesterday. We also know that in times of need we are always there for one another and lucky that we all live relatively close. They all married and had children, so I have rather a lot of in-laws, nieces and nephews and now, great nieces and nephews, all of whom are very special. I love being “Auntie Tubby!”
As the youngest of the four I suppose I was always closer to Jimmy, just two years my senior. When I was young both Cas and Andrew were in school, or worked, and had boyfriends and girlfriends, so Jimmy,
