(who was always, and still is, lively and, sometimes crazier than me!) spent a lot of time together – often dressed in the same clothes too with mum taking a liking to Ladybird clothes that were the fashion. I did a lot of babysitting for my nieces and nephews and had several lovely holidays with Cas and her children. I also worked for Andrew and for Jimmy when they, independently, took over the market stalls from Mum and Dad when they retired.
Jimmy, who attended Art College, is a very talented and creative artist – a hobby we both enjoy – so we do try to spend time together attending craft clubs, and occasionally having a table at craft fairs, mostly selling items made by Jimmy – her Cornish cottages being a huge seller! This was something we set up with Mum many years ago when we called ourselves ‘The Embroidery Hoops’. Mum was also very ‘arty’ and always encouraged us to have a go. How we found the time to make all our items I don’t know; we never made a profit but were thrilled when a customer liked, and bought, something from us.
Cas, Jimmy, Andrew and I are in regular touch these days as we have come to terms with the fact we are all ‘getting on’ in years so, consequently, many of
our conversations end up comparing our medical conditions and lists of essential medications we are taking!

Nieces and Nephews
I’m an auntie and great auntie many times over. Being single, I have always loved my relationship with all my nieces and nephews and all have supported me, and Crazy Hats, tremendously.
Jacquie, my niece (daughter to Cas), has played a huge and significant part in my life and I hope I have made an impact on hers. We have always been very close. Eleven years younger than me, Jacquie has always been, and is, like a little sister and a true friend; we have had so, so many adventures together. We are very much alike and spent a lot of time together when we were both younger, Jacquie would always open up and talk to me to share her worries and seek advice. She is a live wire, lives life at a fast pace, is impulsive, spontaneous and very talented in all aspects of anything creative. Whenever I see her, I always feel inspired, rejuvenated, and younger! Jacquie has so many ideas and instils in me the importance of having hobbies and trying different things. I owe a lot of my creativity to her and feel blessed that we have such a close relationship. I’m confident she will continue to keep me young at heart as she is the proud and loving mum of four
