We had just passed the £100,000 milestone when Sterling Press, who had been so generous with the Christmas Card Project, decided they were going to sponsor a Crazy Hats Booklet called: “HATS OFF TO THE CRAZY HATS APPEAL” to be sold for £5.00 a copy to help us reach the next milestone – £150,000.
Working with Steve and his staff to put together the eye-catching booklet was an enjoyable learning experience and made us realise just what we had achieved in a short time.
“Please help us to reach £150,000. It’s simple – if we sell all 10,000 (10,000!!!) copies printed, we will raise a further £50,000 for the Appeal. We know £5.00 is a lot to ask for this brochure, but we guarantee all proceeds will go to the Appeal. Please give generously. Sterling will continue to support the marvellous work of Glennis and her team and hope you will find encouragement within the booklet to do so too” – Steven Pizzey: Managing Director.

The launch of the booklet was held at Sterling Press and we were thrilled that so many of the Breast and Oncology teams from both KGH and NGH were able to be present. We didn’t print 10,000 – just 1,000
Celebrations – the first £1million party being hosted by Glennis and James who had moved from Orlingbury Hall to Cransley Hall where we had a huge buffet in their beautiful garden; the second million at The County Cricket Ground in Northampton where we had a sit down meal and our third million at Wicksteed Park where we put on a huge Madhatter’s Tea Party – the Pavilion Ballroom decorated absolutely brilliantly by ‘Gem’ (Wedding Party Specialists from Sywell) – with guests wearing a multitude of brilliant themed hats and a visit from ‘Miss October’ – Tricia Stewart – from the original Calendar Girls.
What else?
Bi-annual Grand Raffles, Craft Fairs, Themed sales days in the shopping centres... Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, the 2012 Olympics, William and Kate’s Royal Wedding... Bra evenings, more afternoon teas and lunches (with Jules Hudson from ‘Escape to the Country’ joining us on one occasion – he was lovely!)
The list was endless, as was the list of things people did for us...
Again, I am sorry I am unable to give the space that each contribution warrants... so more photos – every photo having its own story.
