2010:
Happily sitting with Mum at our £1m Celebration Party, reminiscing and saying what a wonderful occasion it was she said to me:
“I want you to do something for me. You’ve raised over a million pounds – such a lot of money. I want you to stop now, have a rest and enjoy yourself. You’ve done your bit.”
She looked me in the eye.
“But you won’t, will you?” she asked. “I can’t.” I replied.
2019:
It was clear to see from the figures just how much the charity was progressing – the time span between each enormous milestone decreasing each time. We were becoming victims of our own success. We were so incredibly busy and our name was certainly ‘out there’ and well-known. But... we had to face facts – eighteen years on, we were all getting older! Our bodies, and perhaps our minds too, were slowing up. With the pace at which we were working and always with a very full diary, we knew that it wouldn’t be too long before the need to think about and plan for the magical £4 million. It was well within our reach,
