     Scrapbooking
I bring in ‘scrapbooking’ now to help illustrate the text. Scrapbooking is a way of using photographs and a little journaling to tell a story – each page like a mini-display. I was introduced to this creative activity by Jacquie in 2005 when I was recuperating after a hysterectomy – sorry, no photo available!
Having a hysterectomy was more of a preventative operation as I had experienced bleeding when there shouldn’t have been any and polyps (benign, thankfully) had been found – and removed. Yes, more bits taken away from me!) I already admired Jacquie’s work and was encouraged to have a go. We started by making a 6”x 6” book out of brown paper bags and worked on each page, adding a photograph, or two, word titles, a short piece of journaling and lots of suitable embellishments. Jacquie was the perfect role model and a very good teacher. I was hooked and went on to design many, many layouts to depict certain parts of my life, and that of others. Jimmy then became interested and for about 8 years, she and I attended scrapbooking classes and joined a scrapbooking group that met regularly at Coleman’s Craft Warehouse in Rushden – now sadly closed. Scrapbooking really is an addictive hobby!
