The National Allotment Society seed catalogue which is a delight to browse
a problem with germination, they will replace your seed without argument and even quote you their germination rate and a few tips on germinating seeds.
The discount, however, is significant at
40% off seeds with the NAS catalogue printed with the discounted price showing. Above this, the Allotment Society receives
a standard 10% discount, a 7.5% early
bird discount if the order is placed by mid-November and a further 5% if the order is at least £750,The catalogue normally comes in August giving plenty of time to meet the early bird deadline.
Once the catalogue arrives it gets distributed and plotholders are given a date to complete their orders. Orders can either be carried out on-line at the NAS Kings Seeds dedicated website or by completing
scheme from Kings Seeds offers huge discounts for individual members, associations and their registered affiliate members. Over 60% of our association members and many individuals take advantage of this scheme and Colin Bedford from Cheslyn Hay allotments outlines below what the other 30% are missing.

Here, at Cheslyn Hay Community Allotments, we have been using the National Allotment Society’s Kings Seeds discount for well over 25 years. In that time the catalogue has changed from a black and white paper booklet listing the seeds available, with the briefest of descriptions, to a colour glossy
through and has been specifically printed for NAS members. It has seed collections which are only available to NAS members and planting charts for many vegetables which, for example, allows you to clearly identify which cabbages you could pick to give you an all-year crop.
The reasons for using Kings are severalfold – it’s not just about the discount, it is also about the quality
of product and service provided. Kings have their own laboratory where they test the seed for germination, purity and vigour. Those of you that went to the 2024 AGM would have had the opportunity to tour around the Kings Seed site which is based just outside Colchester in Essex and will have seen the laboratory in action. If you do have
