Recycle to raise money and pick to do something positive
Whilst the Oundle Waste Less project’s principal aim is to encourage reuse, repair
and refilling, occasionally recycling is the
best available ‘end-of-life’ option for some products. Sometimes, even recycling is not widely available; such is currently the case with leading brand dental products, which cannot be put in our household recycling bins.
The OWL project has therefore joined the TerracycleTM collection scheme and the used dental products listed in the image can be dropped off in boxes found in the Thrapston and Oundle Co-ops and the Oundle Town Library (when open). Funds raised through
the collections are donated to local charities, with the Oundle & Thrapston Foodbanks being the current recipients. More collections points can be set up, for these or other causes, by contacting the OWL team.
“Whilst it is better to avoid unnecessary single use plastics, keeping your teeth
clean is important for your dental health.
The TerracycleTM recycling scheme offers a destination for hard-to-recycle dental products and raises money for good causes”, said Camilla Sherwin, OWL Project Manager. “Please only recycle the items listed - if other items are mixed in, we don’t receive any money for that boxful. Those wanting to reduce the single use plastic in their homes should visit their local zero waste shop, like Refill Revolution at Oundle Wharf, to explore plastic free alternatives.”
