CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
As Mayor I get invited to events in other towns in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire to network and build relations with our neighbours.
In early June I was invited to have afternoon tea with the Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Northamptonshire
at Rockingham Castle. It was a lovely afternoon looking around the manor and grounds and the Lord-Lieutenant spoke about the history of the castle.
I had the pleasure of being asked to attend the Charter Fair which was a wonderful afternoon. I was asked to judge the best shop window display (well done to Eden florists) and the best adult dressing up competition (congratulations to the ladies of Bennett’s cafe). Well done to all of the Charter Fair committee and their volunteers. It was great to see the town thriving and the community coming together.
Myself and my family were invited to Independence Day Celebrations at RAF Alconbury on
Friday 1st July.
It was a brilliant evening with stalls, food and drink, rides and bands, and the evening finished with a spectacular firework display.
My family and I also attended the St Neots Armed Forces Day Gala on Saturday 2nd July which was a great day with parades,
military displays and vehicles, classic cars, stage entertainment, food and drink, as well as a fun fair.
It is great to have
the opportunity to
represent Thrapston
at these events, meet
other Mayors and form new relationships.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Youth Forum for the stall they held
at Charter Fair which has kicked off my fundraising for the year. The stall raised a fabulous £74.05 for my chosen charity, The Haemophilia Society. Every time I walked past their stall it was busy and everyone looked like they were having a great time
– with some serious competition going on! Thanks to everyone at the Youth Forum for their work.
Kind regards
Councillor Craig Wheeler
