YOUTH FORUM REPORT
At the Charter Fair the Thrapston Youth Forum came together in an effort to raise as much money as possible for the Mayor’s charity The Haemophilia Society.
Through a combination of generosity and people’s competitive spirit we were able to raise £74.05. Over several meetings before
the event, we had debated over what kind of stall we wanted to run however we eventually settled on having a selection of ‘Guinness World Record’ style challenges for people to attempt to be the best at in Thrapston. For the games themselves, throughout the day people had the opportunity to compete in: stacking the most toilet rolls in 30 seconds, putting on the most socks in a minute, transferring the most smarties into a bowl using chopsticks in a minute and (most difficult of all) completing
a Rubik’s cube in the fastest time. The day was excellent and it was nice to see people striving to be the best in the name of a good cause. A few attempts do come to mind, with the 18 high stack of toilet rolls (that stood on its own) being particularly impressive. Additionally,
the fierce back and forth competition between those able to do a Rubik’s cube kept dragging the record time lower and lower until by the end of the day it had reached 1 minute 20 seconds. Overall, I hope this write up of a great day’s fundraising encourages young people to get involved with the Thrapston Youth Forum. It really is an excellent opportunity to pitch in with the local events that make Thrapston so special whilst also being a chance to make a positive change in our local area.
