Commissioned by the Scottish Wild Land Group in association with the Scottish Mountaineering Trust and The Cairngorms Campaign, research undertaken by Wildland Research Ltd has found that the Scottish Highlands is in long-term environmental decline due to the continuing pressure for development. If Scotland, and in particular the Highlands is to retain its
iconic landscape then it is imperative, argues Mountaineering Scotland, that the protection of wild areas is fully recognised in the new National Planning Framework being consulted on by the Scottish Government.
