congregation and gave thanks for all those civilians and members of the military who have served on Operations in the Gulf region, Iraq and Afghanistan. His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales then gave a reading from the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. After some international readings from The Chaplain General, The Reverend Doctor David Coulter CB QHC and The Reverend (Wing Commander) Ruth Hake MBE, the parade had the pleasure of The Metropolitan Police Choir singing Nearer God to Thee.
Once all readings had been completed Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh departed to the memorial in Victoria Embankment Gardens for the unveiling ceremony. The Memorial is now open to the public to visit and give their own thanks.

ROYAL ARMY PHYSICAL TRAINING CORPS SERGEANT MAJOR ~ FAREWELL
RAPTC Corps Sergeant Major WO1 (Corps SM) C Burnett RAPTC
May I start by saying it’s been an honour and tremendous privilege to serve you all as the Royal Army Physical Training Corps Sergeant Major (Corps SM). It comes with a heavy
heart writing these notes at the end of my tenure and I look back over the past 2 1⁄2 years with fond memories. Upon re ection the pace of life has been very busy, however ‘good busy’, with supporting the ASPT and the wider Corps whilst trying to add value to the appointment, drawing on the experiences I have gained throughout my Military career. I quickly realised the challenges that come with this appointment and relished the opportunities to that has been afforded to me. In my guise as Corps SM I have thoroughly enjoyed acting as the interface on your behalf and to be the conduit in representing your views. The one thing I ask is for your continued support in assisting Corps SM (Des) WO1 (Corps SM) M Arthur RAPTC, as he in turn, assists the SMAA, with the often dif cult and emotive task of the strategic management of the Corps. In doing so, will bring new initiatives and views in order to support the SMAA in looking after the careers and development of every RAPTCI.
I would like to personally thank all RAPTCIs for the tremendous support and professionalism shown throughout my tenure. Please continue to y the ag high for the Corps, it is important that you all continue to set the right example (Army Leadership Code) and support the wider Corps events, particularly Corps Association and Regimental Dinners. My family and I are really looking forward
