check points which were around 10 miles apart carrying 35lb before eventually hitting the nish point some 17hrs or so later at ‘The Battle of Britain Memorial’ in Dover which was a great end to a tough event where we were greeted with a well-earned breakfast roll and doss bag!
Strength and Conditioning Course
Despite being so busy, sport has not taken a back seat as we retained the regional Cross Country Championships and currently lead the way in the league table. We also managed a respectable 3rd place at the Army Cross Country Champs and Commando Speed March with teams being assembled having just returned from various exercises and tasks.
In November Chris Williams (Ex RAPTC) and his team from Welsh Weightlifting came to deliver an RFU level 2 Strength and Conditioning Course and a level 2 weightlifting course. The course was predominately made up of PTIs and sports coaches from 2 PARA. This was a fantastic few days and the 20 soldiers who attended gained a well-recognised civilian quali cation and some more tools for their locker which are being put to good use in the new strength and conditioning gym which opened in Jul last year.
As an RAPTCI this continues to be a dream post. Fitness should underpin everything we do as an army and that’s certainly where the foundation starts here for all ranks and is part of day to day business. This mentality and ethos will continue to serve us well as we head into more exercises then into another year of high readiness...
