7TH PARACHUTE REGIMENT ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY
THE AIRBORNE GUNNERS’

The Regiment remain embedded within the Air Manoeuvre Battle Group (AMBG) providing rapid strike assets as and when required on contingency operations and training missions. This has required continuous, periodic physical training of the sub-units to be relevant, challenging and above all it has had to be current and adaptable.
Both of cers and soldiers are continuing to complete
the All Arm Pre-Parachute Selection Course (AAPPS). 4 courses are conducted a year. The regiment continues
to be the lead in delivering the arduous 2 week course
to all those potential “Airborne Warriors” within the brigade and further a eld in conducting AAPPS this year with volunteers from the other units within the Brigade and from the wider army. The course continues to evolve with a shortened preparation course being trailed currently.
AAPPS
The 2016/17 winter ski season has seen the continued effort of 7 Para RHA’s regimental Alpine and Nordic ski teams. The Regiment competed last year in the Royal Artillery Alpine Skiing Championships performing well despite the lack of experience. Members from across the Regiment left Colchester at the start of December to travel to Les Deux Alpes, France. Despite this season being something of a rebuilding phase for 7 Para RHA’s Alpine ski team there were glimpses in the individual performances of some real talent. This demonstrated the capacity for success in the coming years if the foundations are built.
Whilst the Alpine ski team were in France, 7 members of the regimental nordic ski team journeyed in November, to Sjusjoen, Norway, to partake in Ex NORDIC GUNNER. Ex NORDIC GUNNER is a nordic skiing training camp, lasting 4 weeks, cumulating in
