  42 ENGINEER REGIMENT (GEOGRAPHIC)
SSgt (SSI) A Wilson RAPTC
As I sit writing this article, I naturally thought, well what should one write in an article of this nature? Writing in this manner can often provoke a sense of what have I actually been doing for the last 12 months. Thankfully, I don’t have that problem, as I could write a whole book on the adventures I’ve experienced while being nestled in Cambridgeshire, representing the RAPTC at 42 Engineer Regiment.
As the Operational commitments of the Regiment continue to increase, the requirement for competitive sport and challenging adventurous training has never been more pertinent. As a result of this plan it has seen a certain RAPTC representative hanging off a cliff face in Italy and dazzling members of the public with my skiing ability in Austria. Sadly, it can’t all be good fun as I also had to spend 4 long weeks in San Diego assisting with Ex BLACK ALLIGATOR as a mountain bike instructor.
On the sporting front the Regiment continue to improve and challenge for major honours, reaching later stages of competitions in both football, rugby and achieving our best nish at the RE Squash Championships. In addition, the Regiment has seen personnel representing their chosen sports at Army, combined services and Great Britain level. We also hosted a boxing evening that saw members of the Regiment, Station and civilian boxing clubs come together to unite communities through sport.
As SIO Haniver and I continue to send the message of injury prevention, reduction and improved lifestyle choices, we still get side tracked listening to Martin’s stories of “When I was in 2 Para” and hearing some brilliant stories of past and present RAPTC

members. In my time here, the Regiment has grown, increased output and is now rmly striving into 2017. I can honestly say that I don’t think I’ve had a bad day at work since I started to represent the RAPTC at this Regiment.

Another busy year for Wimbish Station, whilst maintaining the commitment to OP SHADER in Iraq. Personnel have deployed on numerous EOD and Search operations around the world, including training teams to Ukraine and Pakistan. This operational tempo combined with the normal training and need to retain currency sees the station personnel stretched. You would think that this would leave little time for PD, sport and AT activities,
but you would be mistaken. 2016 has been one of the busiest and successful years in that respect.
Either regimentally or station combined there has been numerous tness competitions, this year has seen the soldiers step up and compete in a plethora of different events from strongman competitions, to March and Shoots whilst embracing the new
