ERI’s farewell session
for membership at local civilian gymnasiums which in my opinion is wrong as all soldiers should have access to a suitable training facility within their unit location.
16 Regt RA are an Air Defence Regiment which operates the Army’s only short range, highly sophisticated Rapier Field Standard C surface to air missile system. They hold the Resident Rapier Battery (RRB) in the Falkland Islands so there is one Bty deployed at all times. The four Rapier Btys are deployed for six months at a time resulting in an 18 month cycle which falls ever so slightly outside the AFORM cycle.
Since our latest ERI Mark Jones arrived late last year we have been collaborating a lot to educate the units on the care pathway and developing the station’s rehabilitation initiative Phoenix Troop into a very successful process. Communication is key for this sort

of thing and this is something that just wasn’t happening. Having now established the communication and using the PT prescription forms, it is a hugely successful process and I have seen a 10% reduction in the units downgraded personnel. Sadly the time has come for him to move on as he is starting his own clinic back home in Exeter. He will be sorely missed as his knowledge and experience has been pivotal to the success of the stations rehabilitation and the development of the AAPTIs that are based here.
Although these past 8 months have been some of the busiest of my Army career I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it. With the imminent hand over of Commanding Of cers there promises to be no let up as I’m sure the new CO will want to implement his PD Directive and move the Regiment forward.

Another busy year with 12th RA, having now well established myself with this very proud unit. This last year has literally own by; with so many highlights it’s hard to narrow it down, however, I can honestly say I love coming to work each day for 12 Regt RA.
