SSgt Boyd and LBdr Eades On The South Korea Visit
the Regimental Boxing event in which we raised over £7,000 for charity.
Another Highlight is that I helped organise and deployed to South Korea with 170 Bty (HQ Bty). This was a lifetime highlight representing the British army on the 65th anniversary on the battle of Imjin River in which the Bty received the Presidential Citation from President Truman as its battle honour. Meeting some of the veterans was an honour and the Koreans were the most hospitable people I have ever met.
The next year remains busy for me and 12 Regt RA. Two of the Bty’s are deployed, so my main goal is to help those deployed by
SSgt Boyd and WO2 Freeman at the 12Regt RA Boxing Show
giving them the best possible training I can prior to them leaving. Like any busy unit we have a few soldiers who are downgraded, but now with a permanent station ERI and Physio hopefully this will soon help reduce our numbers for both 12 RA, 16 RA and 42 Bty on station. There is also a second gymnasium on the horizon which we are looking to establish as a rehab gymnasium.
I can honestly say it has been a pleasure working for this unit, the location is a hidden gem and I recommend it to anyone. With a Battle eld study to Sicily and AT trips to Germany in the near future it looks to be a very exciting summer ahead.
