out Headquarters 11X again. It could have been a RAPTC ski trip with the members present. I had the familiar, if not somewhat older looking faces of WO1 (SMI) Matt Arlow and WO1 (SMI) Daz O’Donnell holding my hand as we tried to instruct a more mature bunch of soldiers. This was not an easy task with WO2 (QMSI) Matt Wigley and Capt (MAA) Sid Saunders skiing off in all directions. An amazing ski trip was had by all, the near metre of fresh snow helped, although Matt Wigley may disagree with me there.

not before the last ski trip of the year was squeezed in. 2 weeks instructing, coaching and acting as the Starter on the AGC Alpine Ski Championships in Neustiff for 270 soldiers. It was an amazing 2 weeks of hard work but also of huge enjoyment, I even got my group to attempt a very passable tableau!
I’ve had another amazing and informative year in the RAPTC. 1 of my staff, Sgt (SI) Riz Rizvi RAPTC transferred to the Corps and Sgt (SI) Nerys Jones is
Resettlement ran like a thread though the whole year with interviews, CTW etc. but by far the hardest part has been the Prince2 Cse which I put myself through. As enjoyable and interesting as it was, there were points I thought my brain may explode, luckily it’s only small so it wouldn’t have made a huge mess. More of the same in the coming year as the inevitable discharge will come and the reality of having to earn my money appears on the horizon. However
currently on her Class 1 training. Both will make fantastic additions to the RAPTC. All the Staff I work with in the gym at WD are outstanding and reminds me daily of what I was like when I was rst embarking on my AAPTI career. Something I prompt myself not to lose sight of when they have the inevitable speed wobbles, we’ve all been there! Hell, after 9 years as a SSI the RAPTC even saw t to promote me to Substantive WO2 this year, who knew!

Southwick Park..............’Where on earth is that?’ is the general response when mentioned. Well it’s a small Tri service establishment for Phase 2 service police located in
the countryside near Portsmouth. It is also famous for the D Day map room which sits in the Of cers Mess, Southwick House.
On return from Op TORAL, I was fortunate to take over a good ship (old naval base) from WO1 (SMI) Bennett so my arrival ran smoothly. The facilities were in good order and the 2IC, Sgt Shelley Garrett RAF, guided me well through the intricacies and frustrations of working at a Tri Service unit.
There was a lot of change over the coming months; the Gym manning was decimated by service leavers and transfers. Sgt James Battle started his PTI Class One course shortly after my arrival and is currently nearing completion. Well done! Apart from
Sgt Garret and I, that left Cpl Murgatroyd RMP to keep us a oat. An especially busy time for him, we all pitched in to ensure PT was delivered effectively. With the change in the Phase 2 syllabus across ARTD, we had to ensure that the program worked, we had the kit to deliver and that the instructors were happy with the new content. Luckily the gym was well stocked up with S&C PTE on SMI Bennett’s departure as the focus towards this training was increased. The unit is always happy to refresh the facilities so we are in a good position.
A fairly recent Sqn restructure, has pulled the Gym into the arms of the Military Training Sqn. A Sqn of many small depts we try and bond over tea and (healthy) cake once a month.
There’s erce competition between some depts on the RCIRL league in which we hold an internal competition for the coveted
