WING GREEN CAMP
71 cadets arrived at Strensall ready for training.
16 of those cadets had been trained on the L98 A2, these cadets went through some practice periods to up-skill them before going on the DCCT. 53 cadets were fresh to the L98, so they went through their Initial Weapons Training on Saturday and Sunday before being tested.
The cadets then went on to the DCCT to go through a set of firing drills to consolidate their training before moving on to Live Firing. Monday arrived and the
live firing began, the 16 experienced cadets went
on to A-Range for some Long-Range firing.
The rest of the camp was on the DCCT, again consolidating their training. Tuesday, all
cadets were live firing, either on the 25m G-
Range or on F-Range for some Long Range
firing. Wednesday arrived, and this is when
some specialised staff arrived at the camp
for a 'round-robin' of activities. CI Sue Shaw
(Wing First Aid Officer) and her first aid team
took 15 cadets through their Essential First
Aid training, they all passed with flying colours
and are the newest trained cadets in the wing.
They also did some Casualty Simulation exercises with the cadets; the feedback was amazing!
Flt Lt Mark Harrison brought his Squadron's archery equipment and facilitated some archery training for the cadets. He was supported by different qualified archery instructors. Flt Lt Steph Ford hosted the Command Tasks, where an additional 8 cadets achieved their Blue Leadership badge.
WO Chris Nichols hosted the Fieldcraft section where all 71 cadets went through several lessons
leading to a blank firing exercise (the first
in the Wing since 2019). I must say that the smiles on the cadets' faces when firing the
blank rounds was ecstatic!
Thursday arrived and the cadets all switched
around to ensure that they all had time for the different activities. This is when the Regional Commandant and the TSA visited the camp. They went around the different activities and spoke to the cadets.
Thursday evening arrived and this is when the end-of-camp party started, with some pizzas, songs and the obligatory paper plate awards.
Friday was the important end of camp cleaning to ensure that we returned the accommodation and supporting classrooms to the camp in better condition than when they were given to us.
366 Squadron Achieves 3 Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards!
Many congratulations to Sgt (RAFAC) Josh Masters, Sgt (RAFAC) Lewis Taylor and ex-Cadet Flight Sergeant Sofia Tredinnick on achieving their prestigious Gold DofE award after 18 months of working independently and as part of a team. This concluded with a 4-day expedition in challenging weather conditions.
They are all rightly proud of themselves after achieving this impressive award and looking forward to celebrating at Buckingham Palace.
Sofia said “It was great learning new skills
and finding time to give back to a Spanish group
I spent most of my life going to. I really enjoyed the expeditions as my team was made of people who already knew each other well and so we had many laughs along the way despite losing a hat and sense of direction at several points. I learned a lot about working as a team and how to keep morale high even in the torrential rain. Overall I only have good memories to look back on.”

Congratulations to all three of you.
