During their stay the 28 cadets assisted the Royal British Legion at the Festival of Remembrance held at the Royal Albert Hall where they collected on behalf of the poppy appeal, sold event programmes and assisted wheelchair
Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadet Corps and the Boys’ Brigade. 2Lt Matthew (Matt) Harris took the salute.
The crowning moment for the cadets was the Remembrance Day parade on Sunday morning where they proudly represented the Army Cadet Force and made their mark. This was the first time in 10 years that the Cadets have been televised live by the BBC during the march past at the Cenotaph.
This year the Lord-Lieutenants Cadet Ceremony was held at the County Buildings in Stafford on the evening of Wed 16 Apr. Cadet Sgt Major Daniel Snape (then SSgt) was inaugurated as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Staffordshire. He is currently studying for his A levels and has successfully secured a place
Army Cadet Force in the House of Lords Chamber debate and discussions.
Annual camp this year was held at Warcop in August and despite torrential
rain at the beginning of the week it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Warcop, with its surrounding training area, provided the ideal location to enable the cadets to hone their marksmanship principles on the ranges and to practice and train in field craft.
Detachments from ‘C’ Company came together in September to assist members
of the Leek community to commemorate the start of the First World War as part
of the “Leek 1914” programme. Led by music from the Corps of Drums they proudly marched though Leek town centre recreating the “first Mile” walked by Leek C Battery in August 1914, which started at the local Barracks in Alma Street, though the town, and out towards Ashbourne. The men of 213 Brigade (Royal Field Artillery) lost 419 men during the “war to end all wars” which left this small Leek community devastated, and therefore on this day in history the children of the parade carried a name tag
of each fallen solider before tying it to the wall of the Nicholson Memorial Clock Tower so we can continue to remember their sacrifice.
